The 2018 box-office hit followed the creation and rise of rock royalty Queen, with Rami Malek portraying vocal god Freddie Mercury. The film won an Oscar for Best Makeup And Hairstyling but lost in the Best Costume Design category. Marion Cotillard took on the role of Piaf and won Best Actress for her performance. The 2007 biographical film told the story of French singer Edith Piaf, who originally sang “La Vie En Rose,” much like Lady Gaga’s character in A Star Is Born. La Vie En Rose translates to “life in pink” or “life through rose-colored glasses,” one may say. She went on to win Best Original Song for the emotional hit “Shallow.” Cooper was nominated for Best Actor, while the film was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay (and was robbed), Best Picture, Best Cinematography and Best Sound Mixing. Gaga made history as the first person to be nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song in the same year. The film follows their instant love, with Maine attempting to bring the inner songwriter and star out of Ally. Director Bradley Cooper portrayed Jackson Maine, a drunken, washed-up country musician who meets Ally ( Lady Gaga ) as she gives an amazing performance of “La Vie En Rose” at a drag bar that he stumbles into. The fourth rendition of this classic tale, A Star Is Born, was by far the best.
